Eastman E10OO 12 fret Guitar construction issue
Posted by: Grandpa Bucky - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (2)

Sadly my E10OO 12 fret slot head developed a belly. It doesn't seem like a guitar should have developed this problem so early in it's life. I guess there is a fine line between tone and resonance, and structural integrity. A proper repair would cost more than the guitar is worth so I went with an improper solution, a JLD Bridge Doctor. Improper because I had to use the brass bridge pin system because the bridge is so narrow there is no room to drill for the screw. The brass system means I'm stuck with a pinless brass system that leaves all the string's ball ends exposed. So ugly for sure compared to the bone pins that were installed before. I'm not sure how it will sound but my Breedlove guitar came with a JLD system installed at the factory and it sounds great, so there is hope. The JLD wood block did not clear the back brace so I needed to cut an eighth inch off the bottom of the block for clearance. At first it seemed that the JLD was doing nothing but eight hours later I was able to convince myself things might be starting to flatten. This morning I checked and the belly side was perfectly flat. So far, so good. The concave area between bridge and sound hole have a way to go. I'll give her another 24 hours to see if there is any more progress and then string the guitar up to see if it still sounds good. Like they say in the music World, stay tuned.

  New E10D
Posted by: Jimmi - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (9)

I have had a new E10D for about 6 weeks now. I am really pleasantly surprised on the quality on every level. I have some great acoustics already including a 2006 Huss and Dalton OM with Adi top over mahogany, a 1978 Martin D28 that I bought new, a Collings OO2HE and others. The point being I already own great guitars but this E10D holds its own. I is currently the first guitar I grab every day. Well done Eastman.

Has anybody here tried one of these? I just noticed it, and I’m intrigued. I like the looks of a Tony Rice D-28. Is it just a few cosmetic changes to the standard E20D-TC?

  Eastman DM2/v
Posted by: AlanSam - Forum: Guitar Videos - No Replies

I was just browsing the internet and came across this vid demonstrating the Eastman DM2/v Selmer-like jazz guitar of the kind Django Reinhardt played. It is a bit too niche even for me but interesting nonetheless not least for its 26.4" scale length - at least it has a 1 3/4" nut lol. Has anyone owned or even played one of these?

  E6D Herringbone/ E10D Slothead!
Posted by: JJStubby - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (1)

Traded for a rare E10D slothead, super clean. Then traded it for a really nice E6D herringbone with ivory binding and got boot! Both great guitars but the E6D to me sounded a little more balanced and focused. Could be the difference between the adi v sitka tops and the strings on the E10. Nonetheless I personally prefer this particular E6 over the slothead because of aesthetics. Just not a slothead fan even though it was probably worth a little more.
