Halfway Home - Tommy Emmanuel cover

Hey all -

Great song and tough to play! I was hoping to capture a more "mistake free" version, but will roll with this one. If you want to try and learn it, I recommend Tim Van Roy's channel on YT; his videos helped me learn this! Recorded with a Tascam Portacapture X6, on an Eastman E10 OM TC.

  Old Eastman AC612

Anyone familiar with these older models? I believe they are basically OMs. 11/22/23 edit - I guess this is the smaller grand concert(ish) body similar to a Taylor X12. I think the price is a little high but not a lot to go on.

Worth owning slope shoulder and square shoulder counterpart?
Posted by: jaymotion - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (5)

I own a slope shoulder hog, and Ive been looking around for a square shoulder model, but I have yet to find a e6d or e10d in any store to play. E1ds are fine and it may be an option. Wondering if any of you own say a 6ss and a 6d or a 10ss and 10d. Sometimes I think I want the snap offered in the full scale square shoulder versions, but I just want to make sure it's not just all in my head .

  Eastman Satin Finish Guitars
Posted by: Yosen91 - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (8)

I spent a bit of time recently trying out some guitars in the eastman range. The local shop I went to had a great selection and I got to try almost everything in their acoustic range. I went in to be blown away by guitars in the 40, 20, or 10 range, but what really stood out to me were their Satin finished guitars like the e1, e2, etc. I was comparing them against the more expensive models and they were louder, more open, and resonant (at least to my ear). Don't get me wrong, the more expensive models were just as incredible, but I would say more refined and controlled.

I just couldn't get over how good the Satin finished models were for the price. Is this common that the gloss used on the more expensive models almost surpresses the sound a little?

I'm having a hard time now deciding over the e1d, e1ss, e2d, and e3de. Anyone else own or has played these got any opinions on them?

  Tascam Portacapture X6 ... incoming
Posted by: Meathead - Forum: General Chatter - Replies (9)

Hi all.. I wanted to share an update on my efforts to streamline creating guitar performance videos. For some time now I've been researching options to simplify my recording and mixing workflow. I think I've finally landed on a solution - the Tascam portacapture X6.

This hardware mixer/recorder will allow me to dial in compression, EQ and more for my acoustic live while recording, straight into my iphone. This should limit or eliminate the post-production mixing required compared to my current setup.

I have the Tascam mixer on order and it should arrive Monday. Once it's all hooked up I'll create a new fingerstyle video and hopefully you all will be able to hear for yourself how if X6 helps improve audio quality right off the bat.

  Neck Depth
Posted by: Charlieb - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (4)

I don't have anything to measure mine with but does anyone know the neck depth on the P/00 builds. I'd like to know the true depth dimensions as I much prefer the thicker neck my P has over the thin neck depth of my Eastman OM

Seems I see neck depth seldom if ever mentioned in brand neck profiles other then nut width, even C, MLO, V etc and this keeps me from even considering one as neck depth is a make or break decision for me.

  Rainsong closing business

As a rainsong owner - this is a bummer, but understandable if the owner is retiring. They make great carbon fiber guitars for dry humidity climates!
