Thinline Fender Tele Pickup Compatibility
Posted by: AlanSam - Forum: General Chatter - No Replies

Out of my depth here. I have an option to buy a beautiful used custom built thinline tele style (with the single 'F' soundhole) body with no pups but functional circuitry including a four way blade in situ. It previously had SD antiquities II pups and I was wondering if an SD Vintage STL1 rhythm pup and STR1 Vintage lead pups would be drop in replacements – I don't want to be faced with having to modify circuits. Also, and in the context of a semi-hollow body would there maybe be excessive feedback? Thanks

  Talking about Teles
Posted by: AlanSam - Forum: Other Guitar Brands - No Replies

We've recently been talking about Teles and this might be of interest to some: https://reverb.com/uk/item/91267264-fend...londe-2016  Teles (single coils a must) are my favourite solid bodied electrics and I love this example - it pushes my buttons. Ash body, Fender's own vintage designed pups and and at least to my eyes a beautiful tasteful relic'd finish. I know relicing is a divisive issue which can be a big turn-off for some, and indeed this other more heavily relic'd example is far less to my liking: https://reverb.com/uk/item/91167119-2016...age-blonde

  Fender Vintera 60's Telecaster
Posted by: Meathead - Forum: General Chatter - Replies (3)

Hey y'all - Alan and I were chatting on another thread, and thought I'd start a new topic.

Here's my Fender Vintera 60's Telecaster. I'm loving the guitar and wish I wouldn't have waited so long to get a Telecaster. It has a 60's C profile neck with 9.5 in radius, very comfortable.

Any other telecaster fans on EGF?

  Visible guitar side dots
Posted by: Meathead - Forum: General Chatter - Replies (2)

Hi guys - I have a Fender Vintera 60's Telecaster that came with side dots on the side of the neck that I could barely see.

It was driving me crazy - so I searched all over the internet looking for a solution, and I found a great one which works well.

So - if you have an acoustic or electric and want brighter side dots, here you go!

Pickup swap on Romeo models — anyone done it?
Posted by: nightchef - Forum: Eastman Electric and Archtop Guitars - Replies (2)

There’s a used Romeo LA available near me, and I’m planning to check it out. However, I would probably want to change the pickups to some kind of humbuckers, because I am a bit of a noise-o-phobe. I played a Romeo with the Lollar Imperials a while back, and the tone just absolutely slew me, so that would be plan A.

My question is this—looking at the Romeo design, the F-holes look narrow compared to typical 335-style designs, without the wider “crossbar” section usually found at the halfway point. I am having trouble imagining getting pots fished through those holes, unless perhaps they are minis of some kind.

Is this an actual issue? Has anyone here done a pickup change on a Romeo successfully? Did you do it yourself, or have a luthier do it?

Thanks!

Fitting a Decal on a Headstock
Posted by: AlanSam - Forum: General Chatter - No Replies

Anybody who's ever bought a guitar neck to fit to their guitar will have faced the issue of whether to fit a decal to the headstock. Personally I find a headstock lacking a decal or two slightly unsatisfactory - a bit incomplete. For a good tutorial vid which addresses the essentials of this task click here:- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PkawGOSFjWQ

  Do (K&K) transducer pickups age?
Posted by: Dovie - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (5)

I just received an order of a K&K Pure Mini and on the box is stamped a production date of February 2019. I'm assuming it's been sitting around because it's not the usual model - it's configured for and comes with a Tapastring wooden endpin Vintage Jack.

Should I be concerned about any degradation in performance of this transducer pickup that's been sitting around for 6½ years (or the putty used in installation)?

The transducer pickup leads to a female 3.5 mm jack. The Vintage Jack has a corresponding male 3.5 mm plug to connect to the K&K.

  Eastman AC330E-12
Posted by: Presentelaw - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - No Replies

Hi, I just bought a new Eastman AC330E-12 String and I'm absolutely loving it. I'm looking to upgrade the factory bone appointments and want to purchase some fossilised mammoth ivory blanks for a new nut and saddle. Does anyone happen to have the length, width (thickness), and height dimensions for the original parts? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  Back from vacation!
Posted by: Meathead - Forum: General Chatter - Replies (1)

Howdy y'all... I've been a bit absent over the last 8-9 days. Took the family on a Royal Caribbean cruise and loved the fact that I did NOT have internet or phone access. True unplug from the world and had great times with the family.

Anyone else cruising fans on EGF? I think it's my new favorite way to vacation!
