Friends, I’m about to take an E20D to our apartment in Kraków and leave it there so I can have something nice to play each spring and summer when we live over there. I’m going to try Pearse Bluegrass gauge strings on it, and I’ve seen several people’s comments about how this might require a turn of the truss rod. I’m ashamed to admit that due to my fear of screwing up, I’ve never messed with truss rods before. Can someone tell me what the adjustment might entail? I’m totally ignorant.

I have played an E2 OM and really liked it (I found the E1 OM a little too bright for my ear, and the cedar on the E2 mellows the sound just a little), but not had the chance to get to try an E6 OM. Obviously I've looked at the reviews and videos online and they are all very positive about it.  I wanted to ask people who have tried both if the E6 is THAT much better than the E2?  The reason I ask is that the E2 is a whole lot of guitar for the money, but the E6 is double the money!  Is the E6 OM TC worth buying over the E2 OM if finances are a little tight?

I guess what I'm asking can be summarised as just how much better is the E6 than the E2?

Over the past couple weeks I sold both my E20D-TC and my E8OM. I decided to take a chance on a Double Top Grand Auditorium DT30-GACE.  This goes against all my instincts. I am normally a try before I buy kind of person. I couldn't find a double top anywhere around to try so all I had to go on were the excited YouTube demos and the positive experiences I have had with all four of my other Eastman guitars.

You might wonder why I sold those two guitars if my experiences were so positive. I originally purchased an E20D-TC and an E10D-TC with the idea in mind that I would take my time choosing a favorite and then sell the other. I thought the choice would be easy but it took six months before I finally had to admit I really, really like that mahogany dreadnought. Selling that E20D-TC still wasn't easy. I really like it. (but that's only one "really") As for the E8OM, I have an E40OM, and even though one is Sitka and one is Adi, they sound and feel so much alike that if you handed them to me blindfolded, I would have had trouble telling which one I was playing, so not quite as hard to let go of. Long story short, I made money on both sales to the point it covered the cost of the DT30-GACE.

Now I'm biting my nails and sitting on the edge of my seat waiting with anticipation for UPS to deliver my Double Top. And waiting. And waiting. It was supposed to arrive sometime today by 7 PM. Since I'm required to sign for it, I've been stuck at home all day. The guitar arrived in San Pablo yesterday (40 miles from my house). This evening it made it to Oakland (13.9 miles from San Pablo and an additional 8 miles distance from my house). Next they will take it 68 miles from Oakland right past my house to Windsor distribution center (21 miles North of my house), then load it on another truck and send it back (21 miles South). That guitar will take five days, and travel 102.9 miles just to go the final 40 mile distance to my house. It only took four days to ship from New Hampshire to California. I got an email at 8:30 PM tonight informing me the guitar will (might, maybe) now arrive on Monday (unless they need to send it to Timbuktu first). Aargh! I'm blaming St. Patrick's Day. The driver probably stopped for a pint or two, or four, or...

As they say in the guitar business, stay tuned. I hope the guitar is all I hope for and I have nothing but positive things to say about it.

Hi, new here and new to Eastman. I am in the process of deciding on a higher quality acoustic. I’ve had rosewood back/sides before and like the sound. I recently had a Gibson J-15 and, disappointingly, did not bond with it. It was nice to look at, and I liked the neck/playability, but it had some weird overtones (dissonance? not sure how to describe) going on that I couldn’t get past.
I don’t mind a dread shape and scale length either, so trying to decide. Might have been on this forum that I read that playing the SS was “like playing a Telecaster “, which I’m good with.
I may have already talked myself into the SS, but looking for opinions on both models.

Hello folks, I just purchased a very nice example of an Eastman E1D for a price that was hard to believe at my local shop in Black Mountain, NC.  I went there to buy a used dread I saw posted on consignment, but when I played this Eastman, I went whoa! I checked out the action and it had a ton of saddle, great I can lower the action a bit, which was a bit high for me.  I play fingerstyle and flatpick both.  It blows my mind the build quality and specs of this guitar for the price, I really don't care it's made in China. I looked up some info because I had not heard of Eastmans and saw they are handcrafted with care. Then I saw this forum, cool I said! I am a long time player and have mostly smaller bodied acoustics from Martin, Yamaha, Bedell, Fox and Andrew White.  But needed a dread for some reason :-)) I've never had a sapele guitar, but it sounds great and will only get better as I play it.
I don't play out much anymore, use to be in a few bands, trio's etc; but do some home recording stuff these days. My wife and I use to play as a duo, she sings well, me not so much. 
Anyway just wanted to say hello to everyone and I will be perusing here.  Thank you for having me!

Hi there, my bone saddle was a little low so i bought a tusq one to replace it and try out how it sounds. So i did a comparison playing the same pharses.
 
Same strings (Addario XS 12)
Same mic and placement (neumann Mcm 114)
same preamp and gain
no effects in both tracks and same gain.
Same guitar :+)  Eastman E40OM-TC
same render format: 320kps mp3. no effects.

Disclaimer: since the Tusq bridge is a little higher strings are more tense and i had to adjust the truss rod to the right just a bit, not even a quarter of a turn.
It might be possible that i played the scale at the end of both files louder in the tusq version.

I wont give any opinion, i will await for yours.

As stated in a previous thread, I've received my E2D-BK. Too me it's even better looking in person! The sound is amazing. Balanced and LOUD! Pictures below along with my Eastman family!!

I thought I would start a new thread on the resized Eastmans, rather than continue with Aahzz’s thread on the E3DE.  If I have misquoted you in any way, Aahzz, I apologize, please correct me.  For the sake of this discussion, I have not compared upper bout dimensions, but I will assume they will be proportionately smaller.  Here is the response that Eastman gave to Aahzz when he asked if the E3D is smaller than previous Eastman dreadnought:

Thank you for reaching out to EASTMAN! All Eastman Dreadnoughts have the same size today, however since Bourgeois guitars joined the Eastman family of brands in 2019, we changed our Dreadnought size, to the same size as the Bourgeois Dreadnoughts, this has been a rolling gradual change. So any dreadnought you buy today, is all exactly the same size.You can find all the specs that we can share with you about your Acoustic guitar on our website: https://www.eastmanguitars.com/acoustic    [Note: The website still shows the old specs as of March 14, 2023.]

From their website, the old Eastman dreadnought lower bout dimensions were 16” x 4 23/32” (407mm x 120mm) The Bourgeois website gives the lower bout width as 15 1/2” (394mm).  They do not list the maximum body depth, but list the body depth at the neck (3 7/8”, 124mm).  The lower bout depth that Aahzz received from a dealer measuring an E3DE was 4 1/2” (115mm).  So, old Eastman dreadnought dimensions 16” x 4 23/32” (407mm x 120mm) vs new Eastman dreadnought measurements of 15 1/2” x  4 1/2" (394mm x 115mm): is that a game changer?  Hard to believe that Eastman would make such a change if it negatively affected the tone/volume.  Will they still be very good guitars, but a different sounding Eastman dreadnought that most of us now own?

I've been shopping for a Dread lately - I had given up on them for comfort issues, but I just missed the big bold Dread tone. My 2 GAs are both Eastman, so I was figuring an Eastman Dread - I've been really impressed with them. However, in looking and researching, I also discovered that they've recently downsized their Dreads, since buying Bourgeois - they matched the Bourgeois Dread size, which is apparently both a touch shallower and narrower. So I was waffling, still planning to buy one, when I wandered into Third Rock Music in Cincinnati. Picked up a Martin D10E.

Aaaah. That sounds like a DREAD.

So, she came home with me. I also have to say that, as nice as the Eastman gig bags are, the Martin bag is even nicer. I have no worries about transporting the D10E to gigs in this bag.
