i've owned quite a few eastmans, and have never really found any glaring fit/finish issues with them, outside of nit-picking things like side of fretboard dot markers, etc. 

but i just found a head scratcher on my new E1OM special. 

I tend to replace the ebony bridge pins with bone. generally for durability, as i don't hear any major sound differences between them and the ebony. 

i also know that you may need to sand the shafts of the bone pins to seat them correctly. that's not a problem.

the problem with this one is the low e and a string holes are fine, using the same pin with no string in. they just glide in the holes. 

but from the d string to the high e, the same exact pin gets lodged into the cavity at different depths. none of which are close to where the are supposed to sit. 

i don't know if the string holes are just drilled, or tapered slimmer are they move down to the bridge plate. it just seems odd to me that 4 of the holes are too narrow. the ebony pins can be interchanged no problem.

the brand pins i got (crosby) are a lot thicker, but still claim to be t1, 3 degree taper. 

should all the pin slots be the same diameter? are the thinner string slots usually a thinner diameter? i'm no luthier.

Anyone have any experience with the Deluxe?  If I understand correctly this came out at NAMM and would have expected to see some type of review by now.  Little to nothing on the web that I can find.  I regret having parted with a GS Mini eRosewood Plus (glossy equivalent to the Deluxe) and was looking at buying again when I learned of Eastmans version.  I recently bought an SB59 and drinking the Eastman Kool Aid at the moment....anxious to hear how the Truetone Ovangkal stacks up against the GS.rosewood.

hello, my name is josh and i’m new to this forum! i’ve recently been very interested in buying myself a used eastman t486b semi hollow, mostly since having played a new one at a store and subsequently falling in love with the bigsby trem and all the great specs. now this used model is from 2015, and i’m sorry if this is a stupid question, but are the specs at all different from the ones eastman are making in the current year?

also, side question just to make sure, are the necks on the bigsby version (t486b) same as the non-bigsby version (t486)?

So I bought this new. Did a few tasteful upgrades listed below. Ended up selling it. (I am not really a Martinesque dread fan, more Gibsonish) Then I bought it back for some impatient reason, realizing once again I am not a Martinesque dread fan. So off it goes back on the market. Let me know if you have any questions.

Eastman dreadnaught acoustic guitar with limited edition torrefied Alpine Spruce top and Mahogany back, sides and neck. Fretboard and bridge are ebony. All solid wood constructions. The Alpine Spruce top is a definite upgrade that was only used for one year due to the lack of availability of Sitka spruce during Covid. The nut and saddle are bone with the saddle being an upgraded Bob Colosi saddle. Additional upgrades include Gotoh tuners with pearloid buttons, Holter custom pickguard and a Schatten HFN passive pick up. A strap button has been added at the heel. Includes the original hard shell case. The guitar is comparable to a Martin D18.

In 2011 I bought a 185 MM that has curly maple on front, back and sides (hence the MM, not MX).

I talked to Lou today at Guitars and Jazz-who sold it to me 14 years ago-and he said that the MM models are a rare breed. For this reason Im wondering if it's more valuable than the 185MX's that I see on Reverb.

I haven't been able to find any mention of any 185MMs anywhere on the net and there aren't any for sale. I contacted Eastman but they haven't gotten back to me on how many they've made.

It's in perfect mint condition; I played it less than 50 times, always in my studio.
